Suee takes immense pride in its origin, Kannur, the rich, culture-centric district of Kerala. Hiba and Krishna, two women who are the soul and fuel of the brand, after graduating from National Institute of Fashion Technology in the year 2017, knew what they were envisioned for.
As the daughters of Kannur, they possessed prior expertise in the handloom industry.They were truly concerned about the imminent demise of a highly esteemed artisan history and bored with the monotony of designs and the repetitive catalogue of handloom every year.
When they realised the handloom industry needed to be revolutionised and revitalised through value-added products and designs, they set out to do exactly the same! Hiba and Krishna, through their unique perspectives and experiences, have infused the brand with a sense of authenticity and creativity. The brand, Suee, draws inspiration from vibrant traditions and artistic heritage from India. They have woven their love for their hometown into the fabric of the brand, infusing it with the colours, patterns, and stories that make it so unique. The venture is deeply grounded in the traditional practices of weaving, is dedicatedly supported by the passionate weavers society, and promoted vigorously by handloom enthusiasts across the country.
Women interested in embroidery work are being trained and provided with materials. With these resources, they create exceptionally detailed embroidery. In this way, Suee extends a helping hand to household women. Suee now has over 100 dedicated women, making it a strong community of women, including its founders.
