With over three decades of experience, Dr. Mumtaz Khalid Ismail is an accomplished Consultant Clinical Nutritionist dedicated to advancing nutrition, wellness, and preventive health. She is an alumnus of Aligarh Muslim University, holds a Master’s in Foods and Nutrition from PSG College, Bharathiyar University, and earned her PhD from Mother Teresa Women’s University, with research centered on child nutrition. Dr. Mumtaz is also a certified sports nutritionist, a certified diabetes educator, and holds a specialization in FODMAP for IBS from Monash University, Australia.
Dr. Mumtaz's career includes distinguished roles across India, including Chief Nutritionist, Clinical Nutrition Manager, and Project Manager at institutions like the Army Medical Corps, Apollo Hospitals, Hyderabad, and Medvista Health Care Solutions. As a consultant to the National Rural Health Mission, she helped draft the 2013 Nutrition Policy for Kerala and served as a nutrition expert for UNICEF. Her academic contributions include serving on the Board of Studies for PSG College and currently as a professor of nutrition for BSc Nursing students in Ernakulam.
In the corporate arena, Dr.Mumtaz leads employee wellness initiatives, designing health programs, menu evaluations, and educational workshops for organizations such as Malayala Manorama, BPCL Kochi Refinery, Federal Bank and KPMG. She also developed Kerala’s first government dietary department at Ernakulam General Hospital, providing disease-specific diets to patients. A familiar voice in media, her expert insights on nutrition have been featured in prominent publications, as well as on radio and TV.
Dr. Mumtaz is a member and secretary of the Women Entrepreneurs Network, for the term 2023- 2024 and also serves as Secretary of the Nutrition Society of India, is the Founder president of AEDAN,( Association of Evidence-Based Nutrition and Dietetics) and currently serves as Vice President of the IAPEN ( Indian Association of Parental and Enteral Nutrition ) Kochi Chapter.
